A BLAKE FOR A BLAKE

Goodbye Blake DeWitt, hello Casey Blake.

Yesterday Blake DeWitt was interviewed on ESPN 710 radio by Mason and Ireland where they asked him if he worries about competing to keep his 3rd base spot on the Dodger's roster. He basically brushed off the question and said that he tries his hardest every time he comes to the field and doesn't think about those things.

Ironically, the next day DeWitt was off the Dodger's roster. Today DeWitt was optioned down to Triple-A Las Vegas to make room for Casey Blake who was acquired today from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for two minor leaguers, catcher Carlos Santana and pitcher John Meloan.

I interviewed Casey Blake last month, who said similar words to DeWitt. He said, "If you want something bad enough, you've got to work harder than everybody else."

Unfortunately for DeWitt, that's not always true. However, he's young, hardworking and one of the nicest guys on the team and I'm sure he'll be back soon enough. For now, good luck to the Blake's.
